Green Procurement Policy
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that our company purchases equipment, products, and services that are expected to have a significant impact on energy performance and the environment, prioritizing energy efficiency and environmental sensitivity. By implementing this policy, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced, and environmental and economic benefits will be increased.
Our company commits to considering energy performance in all procurement activities related to significant energy uses and to reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Principles
Within this scope, our green procurement principles are as follows:
- Minimize unnecessary purchasing
- Minimize waste
- Minimize toxicity
- Minimize habitat destruction
- Minimize soil degradation
- Minimize greenhouse gas emissions
- Maximize energy efficiency
- Maximize water efficiency
- Maximize health and safety elements
- Procure eco-labeled/environmentally friendly products and services
- Plan training to raise awareness of sustainability opportunities in procurement processes
- Create fair trade opportunities
Method
The Green Procurement Policy is applied when purchasing equipment identified as a significant energy user in our company, with the goal of evaluating the impact of the procurement. Purchasing energy-efficient products and services that work more efficiently than traditional ones can reduce our company's energy costs. Procuring energy-saving products can not only reduce energy costs but also decrease maintenance costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve pollution prevention and resource conservation activities.
Requirements
Scope
This policy applies to all production and auxiliary facilities, production processes, raw material and energy consumption, all offices and office equipment and supplies, all employees, and other stakeholders (suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, and personnel included in contracts with other organizations) of our hotel.
Communication
Our hotel will inform suppliers that procurement is partially evaluated based on energy performance when procuring energy services, products, and equipment that have or may have an impact on significant energy use.
Evaluation
Energy use, consumption, and efficiency will be evaluated throughout the expected operating life of the equipment by the owner or contract manager, and this evaluation may be based on information provided by the potential vendor or through our hotel's own investigation. The results of the evaluation will influence purchasing decisions.
Agreements
Contract specifications, supplier service agreements, and other similar documents will require the vendor to configure the equipment for optimal energy performance within the scope defined by the manufacturer. Vendors holding ISO 14001, ISO 50001, or equivalent certifications will be preferred for supplier selection. Products must also meet user requirements in terms of quality, performance, and durability. The vendor will provide customer support for power management features to ensure these features are properly activated and maintained in case of failure.
Implementation
Our company will provide all personnel with training and awareness tools. Our company will actively encourage innovative improvements in suppliers' energy efficiency performance, and evidence of this communication will be recorded. Our company will continuously improve procurement policies and guidelines by regularly reviewing contracts and suppliers and benchmarking this strategy with others, monitoring performance indicators using procurement standards, and energy and environmental performance.
Management commits to fulfilling the requirements outlined in this policy and expects the same commitment from all employees of our company.
